The Rocky Mountain Dental Convention (RMDC) is the largest gathering of dental professionals in the Rocky Mountain region. Come see me in person, its January 19 – 21, 2023. My esteemed colleague Dr. Brett Gilbert of Access Endo interviewed me for his Endo Files. Brett and I used to be opposed to each other–because before we met the endodontic royalty asked us to debate each other at a conference about key topics in endodontics.

Reid Pullen’s 30 Second Exam

Pop quiz: What physical indicators do you use to help efficiently diagnose a patient?

At RootCanalAcademy.com we have seven tests that we conduct in a 30 second exam:
1. Visual
2. Percussion
3. Mobility
4. Probing
5. Palpation
6. Bite stick
7. Cold

Explaining each test while in progress, and the patient’s own corresponding sensation, will help them understand the need for treatment and is a good precursor to your diagnostic explanation. Conducting your test efficiently and authoritatively instills confidence.

4 Quarters of the Root Canal Game Summary Graphic

Greetings Clinicians,
Here is a nice new graphic summarizing Root Canal Academy teaching. It puts on one page in a digestible format the complicated root canal process. My ‘4 Quarters’ teaching aims to organize the many sub procedures into a ‘football game’ format. Simple! Four quarters of procedures along with ‘pre game, halftime, and post game’ activities. I’ve found that this common format makes learning not only easier, but fun.  Participation is great; winning is fun!

The 4 Quarters graphic can serve as a refresher for our Resident Library members–who get our entire game plan!–as well as an orientation for Free Library members and those considering joining our Free Library (BTW it’s FREE!).
