New Course! 4 Quarters of the Simple RTX Game

September 7, 2020 by reid pullen Leave a Comment

Greetings Clinicians,

I’m proud to present a major new content area on our RootCanalAcademy.com website: The ‘4 Quarters of the Simple ReTx Game.’ Let me introduce the course:

We provide and will continuously update video and other content as RTX tools and techniques evolve. Oh, and we have a ReTx book in production too, as part of our Learning Lessons series. That will be on our Publications page. I’m excited about how this new RTX course can help you serve existing patients better, and add a revenue source with simple ReTx.

ReTx Video — Preview of ‘4 Quarters of the Simple ReTx Game’

This 6:30 minute video — part of a 35:00 minute full procedure — walks us through the retreatment process using a standard periapical radiograph. I annotate the image showing which areas of the canal are targeted with each step and tool of the retreatment–watch and learn the basics of the retreatment technique.

Stay tuned to our website for more additional material for the retreatment course. We are here to make you BETTER TOMORROW with 4 Quarters of the Simple ReTx Game!

Comments From a New Resident Member, Summer 2020

“Hey Reid, I just wanted to reach out and say how absolutely amazing root canal academy is. In 2013 my wife J. K. came out to your office for endo PIPs training and I came out the following year. Ever since then I had been doing endo here and there but only simple cases. I had pretty much been doing everything I had learned in your course. Well now that one of our local endodontists was forced to retire I have been doing a ton of endo and with the investment of wave one I have become obsessed with endo. Thank you so much for putting together root canal academy it has made me excited to go back to work! Are you still using the laser? I notice you don’t talk about it too much in the videos. Thanks again and I can’t wait to see what else you have to share.”

Removing Calcium Hydroxide

May 17, 2019 by reid pullen Leave a Comment

Greetings Clinicians,
Our last post was a primer ‘Using Calcium Hydroxide,’ as part of our preview of the forthcoming publication of Learning Lessons. In this post, we present Case #5 ‘Removing Calcium Hydroxide.’ I get these questions about removing Ca(OH)2.

  • Why do I need to use Calcium Hydroxide? Why not just
    leave the canal dry?
  • What if some Ca(OH)2 is left on the canal walls and you obturate?
  • Can Ca(OH)2 block you out on the 2nd visit?

Here are answers and procedure tips in my Learning Lessons Case #5:

Learning Lessons Book 1, Case #5

This is another sneak peak at a forthcoming series of Learning Lessons books to be available soon through RootCanalAcademy.com. See other lesson samples in this blog.

Happy endo my friends,

Reid

Difficult Patient Circumstances?

December 20, 2018 by reid pullen Leave a Comment

Everyday, all day, we deal with patients. Some are easy, some are grumpy and some just are downright difficult. In our patient communication series we continue discussing how to effectively talk to the patient.

In these videos I discuss:

What do you say to a patient who has an apical lesion but doesn’t have any pain and does not want treatment? Try this little trick and see what happens.

What do you say to a patient regarding the success rate of endodontic treatment? Clear communication can alleviate later problems if the endodontic treatment fails.

Gentle Dentist or Creepy Santa?

December 20, 2018 by reid pullen Leave a Comment

Easing the patients fear is an important part of dental treatment. By clearing explaining treatment and getting the patient fully anesthetized we can continue as the Gentle dentist and not creepy Santa.

Don’t be a Creepy Santa.
